Following the withdrawal of Russian troops from the area, more than 900 bodies have been discovered in the areas surrounding Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital.

According to police, most people were shot dead and “simply executed,” with at least 350 bodies discovered in the town of Bucha alone.

Andriy Nebytov, the regional police chief, said the bodies were dumped or buried temporarily.

According to police records, 95% perished from gunshot wounds.

Nebytov said additional dead were being unearthed daily from rubble and mass graves under the Russian occupation.

Consequently, we understand that under the [Russian] occupation, people were simply executed in the streets, “Nebytov said,” adding that more bodies were being recovered every day under rubble and in mass graves.

He said that Russian troops were “tracking down” pro-Ukrainian activists.

Residents of Kyiv and surrounding areas may face further violence as Russian officials vow to intensify their offensive in retaliation to alleged attacks on Russian territory.

On Saturday morning, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported an explosion in the Darnytskyi area.

Rescuers and medics were on the scene.

Russia accused Ukraine of attacking Bryansk, a border town, with air strikes that injured seven people and destroyed 100 homes. On Thursday, Russian border authorities confirmed Ukrainian shelling.
