With a new imprint that debuts in April, Marvel Comics is prepared to capitalize on the well-liked assets of 20th Century Studios.

According to the media, a variety of new comics based on the renowned film series that made the company a household brand will be published under the first-ever imprint for the illustrious film studio.

It will debut in Planet of the Apes #1, the first issue of a new series written by David F. Walker, with art by David Wachter, and a cover by Joshua Cassara. Sales of the first edition begin on April 5.

Also, Marvel has two other upcoming comic book series based on significant movie franchises, Alien and Predator, which will now bear the 20th Century imprint. It was previously revealed in January that Alien #1 would be released on April 26 in honor of Alien Day.

Predator #2, which comes out in April, will feature the imprint before the first new Predator comic, which comes out on March 8.

The editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, C.B. Cebulski, expressed his delight at 20th Century Studios joining the comic book community and promised more future adaptations, saying:

“Ever since we announced our Alien and Predator comics, we hoped to create a special space within our comics line to go even bigger and bolder and keep building on the iconic moments from these properties that we all know and love. This 20th Century Studios comics imprint, in collaboration with our friends at 20th Century Studios, is the perfect way to do that. Now that we’re bringing back Planet of the Apes again through classic comic book storytelling, we are absolutely thrilled to officially launch this imprint for the fans, and we’re all honored to expand upon it in the coming months.”

Marvel has a history of turning 20th Century properties into profitable ventures. During their runs, the most recent Alien and Predator comics from 2021 and 2022, respectively, both won recognition.

Working with the Marvel team is enjoyable, according to 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell: “We’ve had a blast working with C.B. and his team and, as lifetime Marvel Comics fans, it’s an honor to be a part of such an enduring creative legacy. We think fans will love the fresh takes on these beloved, iconic movies.”
