Ruth E. Carter has discussed the technique she used to create the new Black Panther super suit and other costumes for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Carter admitted that developing a garment that could be used underwater was her hardest hurdle. The significance of raising Queen Ramonda’s position as well as the meaning of the gold and silver in Princess Shuri’s outfit was also discussed.

According to Deadline, Carter has acknowledged that making a new suit for Black Panther with underwater capabilities was her hardest problem. Carter said, “Clothes aren’t made to be worn underwater for eight hours and then reused the next day.”We had to completely rethink what fibers could be submerged in water while yet appearing organic not only did the material need to be durable, but it also needed to look classy and heavy. “We’d like to imagine that garments always float as in a ballet, but they just rise up,” These elements had to be taken into account for other costumes as well because so many sequences took place underwater, including Namor’s (Tenoch Huerta). In a prior interview, Carter had stated to The Hollywood Reporter that “there were so many things about being in water that worked against us.” “We used organic materials and feathers to create Namor’s headpiece. Everyone admired the way it floated and looked as he went underwater.

Carter claimed she wanted to design a garment that both integrated T’Challa’s outfit and catered to Princess Shuri’s (Letitia Wright) femininity after the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman. Carter said, “We didn’t stray too far from her body, the silhouette of a woman, with a bust, hips, and shoulders. But we also wanted to subtly accentuate the panther suit’s dynamic shape. The usage of adornments on the suit, which took the designers and creators a lot of effort to pull off, contributed to the outfit’s femininity. She referred to the use of both gold and silver components, saying that “adding more of the striations on the suit gives it a bit more shine than the former Panther costume.”

On the other hand, T’Challa’s initial costume simply had silver vibranium embellishments. “The outfit of T’Challa emphasized his physique. The adornments in this instance are also highlighted, and they are what give it its femininity.

In addition to enhancing Queen Ramonda’s (Angela Bassett) prominence, the use of metal was a crucial component of her wardrobe. “We detect a noticeable metal presence. Her garment features a collar that was 3D-printed, painted to seem like metal, and her crown has been raised, according to Carter. Ramonda’s function as an advisor in Black Panther (2018) called for a more relaxed costume than one that would have shown her authority. Her new attire does, however, also let her display some of her fragility, especially in her bare arms. “That is Angela Bassett’s greatest strength, in my opinion. She has strong arms, Carter remarked.
