NDMA continues to provide humanitarian aid to Palestine, Lebanon

KARACHI: On the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) continues to provide humanitarian aid to the affected people of Palestine (Gaza)and Lebanon.

The 17th consignment of aid was dispatched from Karachi to Lebanon on Tuesday . This aid shipment, sent by NDMA in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Foundation, comprised approximately 17 tons of supplies, including tents, food tins, dry milk, rice, clothes, hygiene kits and medicines.

The aid was dispatched via chartered flight from Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, to Beirut, Lebanon.

The send off ceremony held at Jinnah International Airport was attended by Dr. Farooq Sattar, MNA, representatives from NDMA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Al-Khidmat Foundation.

The MNA emphasized the urgent need to provide relief to the war-affected populations of Palestine (Gaza) and Lebanon, considering the ongoing conflict and the needs of the affected communities.

He reaffirmed the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the brothers and sisters in distress and stressed the importance of collaboration by welfare organizations and the Pakistani public in strengthening these efforts.

Prior to this, Government of Pakistan has sent 16 aid consignments to Gaza, Palestine, with a total volume of 1610 tons.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to immediately dispatch two planeloads of relief goods to Gaza and Lebanon and called for using both land and aerial routes for the aid supply.

The prime minister, chairing a meeting to review the relief activities for Palestine and Lebanon, asked for improving coordination with Pakistan’s ambassadors in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt to ensure a better supply of relief goods.

Stressing for an accelerated pace of relief aid, he called for ensuring that the relief goods reached the deserving people.

Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated his appeal to the countrymen and the expatriates to donate generously to the PM Fund for Gaza and Lebanon with Account No. IBAN:PK11SBPD000000111111429. He also instructed the relevant authorities to run an awareness drive to acquaint the people with the Relief Fund established by the government.

In the briefing on the relief activities, the prime minister was told that relief goods including winter tents, clothes, blankets, medicines and eatables were being dispatched for the people suffering the Israeli barbarism in Gaza and Lebanon.

It was told that the Israeli attacks and siege were impeding the supply of relief goods to the affected areas.

The meeting was told that the government would also facilitate the NGOs desiring to send relief aid to Gaza and Lebanon.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy for foiling an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Indian-made narcotics pills and drugs.

The prime minister, in a statement, said that the Pakistan Navy was not only safeguarding the maritime boundaries of Pakistan but also playing an effective role in curbing illegal activities in the region.

Pakistan evacuates 79 citizens from Lebanon

KARACHI: A special flight arranged by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, successfully evacuated 79 stranded Pakistanis from war-torn Lebanon on Wednesday.

The evacuees arrived at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, where they were warmly welcomed by Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Sindh Industries Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo.

In addition to facilitating the safe return of its citizens, the NDMA dispatched a consignment of three tons of essential medicines to Lebanon on the same chartered flight.

This humanitarian aid package was a collaborative effort involving the NDMA, the Pakistan Army, and the Al-Khidmat Foundation.
