Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik appointed as DG ISI

RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed as new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Malik has replaced Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum as ISI chief and will take charge of his new command on September 30.

Currently, he is serving as the adjutant general at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

The newly appointed Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik has served as the commander of Balochistan infantry division and infantry brigade in Waziristan.

Moreover, Lt Gen Malik had also served as the chief instructor at the National Defence University and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College Quetta.

The new ISI DG is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth in the United States and Royal College of Defence Studies in London.

RAWALPINDI: Assistant Superintendent of Police Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi called on General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at General Headquarters on Wednesday.

COAS lauded ASP Shehrbano for her selfless devotion to duty and professionalism in diffusing a volatile situation. The fearless officer extricated a woman from the difficult milieu of Ichra Bazaar in Lahore on February 26 2024.

COAS acknowledged the vital role Pakistani women are playing in all walks of life. Since independence, Pakistani women have distinguished themselves at home and abroad, by virtue of their talent, tenacity and commitment.

COAS highlighted that the women are an invaluable part of Pakistan’s society and their respect is enshrined in our religion as well as our social ethos.

COAS also underscored the importance of social harmony and the need for nationwide consensus on curbing intolerance. He emphasized upon the rule of law and advised against taking the law in one’s hands when legal avenues are available for addressing concerns and grievances. Noting that arbitrary actions on the basis of heresy undermine the outlook of the society, COAS underlined Islam’s eternal message of kindness and benevolence.

RAWALPINDI:  Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, presided over the 258th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at General Headquarters (GHQ).

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR),  forum paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices persistently being offered by the valiant soldiers in the defence of their motherland against the threat of terrorism.

The participants were briefed in detail about the prevailing Internal Security environment. The sanctuaries and liberty of action available to the terrorists of proscribed TTP and other groups of that ilk in a neighboring country and the availability of the latest weapons to the terrorists were noted as major reasons impacting the security of Pakistan.

The forum deliberated in detail upon the operational preparedness and training aspects of the army. COAS said, “Objective training remains the hallmark of our professionalism and we must always remain prepared to guard against any threat to our national security.“

The forum was also apprised about the Government’s economic revival plan and the role of the Army in uplifting agriculture, IT, mining & mineral, and defence production sectors under the ambit of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Commander Centcom called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir wherein matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and stability, defence and security cooperation, particularly military-to-military ties, were discussed during the meeting.

The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s achievements in fight against terrorism, flood relief and contributions for regional peace.

The visiting dignitary laid a floral wreath at Martyrs’ Monument in honour of the Martyrs of Pakistan.

A smartly turned-out contingent of Pakistan army presented a guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
