ISLAMABAD: The United Nations has strongly condemned the suicide attack in Islamabad, urging that those responsible for the act of terrorism be brought to justice.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed sorrow over the incident, extending condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the quick recovery of the injured.

Guterres also called for a thorough investigation into the attack, emphasizing that perpetrators of terrorism must face justice.

The attack took place near the courthouse in G-11 sector, resulting in 12 fatalities and several injuries.

According to reports, the suicide bomber, riding a motorcycle, approached a police vehicle and detonated explosives, causing nearby vehicles to catch fire.

The explosion was powerful enough that parts of the attacker were thrown into the courthouse premises, while the blast was heard across the surrounding area.
