LAHORE: A case has been registered against Vice Amir of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) Pir Zaheer Ul Hasan Shah for threatening to Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.

According to the police, 1,500 TLP workers have also been named in the case, while provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, religious hatred, sedition and putting pressure on the judiciary have been included in the case.

The case also includes the provisions of contempt of the higher judiciary, interference in government and obstruction of legal duties.

Police said that in the protest outside the press club, Pir Zaheer ul Hasan spread hatred against the Supreme Judiciary, which has registered a case against 1,500 workers, including the TLP vice-chairman.

Lahore Police registered the case in Qila Gujjar Singh police station on the complaint of SHO Hammad Hussain against the TLP leader and 1500 party workers for issuing death threats to the chief justice.

The case refers to a speech made by Shah during a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club during a demonstration against the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.

ECP unveils final list of minority seats in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has unveiled the ultimate compilation of ten minority seats within the National Assembly.

The final list consists of candidates from different parties, with 10 representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), 5 from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), 2 from Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP), 7 from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), 4 from Jamaat-e-Islami, and 3 from Mutahidda Quomi Movement (MQM).

Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has frozen the development funds of all local government departments.

According to the notification issued by the ECP, the development funds of the local government departments have been frozen until the announcement of the results of the general elections.

The notification states that the local governments will only carry out the day-to-day affairs of sanitation and cleanliness, but no local development scheme will be announced or worked on.

Khushab: Polling Underway For PP-84 By-Election

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has organized PP-84 by-election (Punjab Assembly Seat) in Khushab, for which the process of polling is underway.

According to the details, the residents of Khushab in Punjab’s Sargodha district are exercising their right to vote for their preferred candidate for the seat that was left vacant after the death of PML-N MPA Malik Muhammad Waris Kallu, who died on March 12 from COVID-19.

The ECP has established 229 polling stations, including 666 polling booths — 344 for male and 322 for female voters. The total registered voters amount to 292,687 of which 155,104 are male and 137,583 female.

Muhammad Moazam of the PML-N, Ali Hussain of the PTI, Ghulam Habib of the PPP, and a candidate of the TLP are in the fray.

The Government has formed 10 teams that will monitor the electoral process to the announcement of the results.

The security officials deployed on the polling stations have been strictly directed to ensure security and smooth conduct of elections throughout the constituency and safe delivery of ballot boxes and other election materials at the polling booths.
