ATC indicts Shah Mahmood Qureshi in May 9 case

LARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court(ATC) on Monday indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in May 9 riot case.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been booked in Shadman Police Station on May 9 and other cases including arson.  Shah Mahmood Qureshi was summoned today for charge-sheeting.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi was transferred from Adiala Jail to Lahore under tight security this morning.

The anti-terrorism court held a hearing against Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Kot Lakhpat Jail and the court indicted him in the encroachment case.

The court adjourned the further hearing of the case till July 22 while summoning the witnesses for the next hearing.

PTI founder stops return of party deserters

PTI founder calls for meeting with negotiating team

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan stopped the return of leaders who had deserted the party.

A 7-member committee under the direction of founder PTI will decide the return of the leaders who left the party in difficult time.

The committee will be headed by Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while the committee will include Asad Qaiser, Hamid Khan, Shehryar Afridi, Barrister Gohar Khan and Shibli Faraz.

Shandana Gulzar has also been included in the committee and she will report on the cases of women and their reasons for leaving the party. After which the committee will send the final list of names to the founding PTI and he will take the final decision.

The party leadership has blocked the return of any leader to the party until the release of Imran Khan and the decision to return the leaders will be made only after the release of the PTI founder.

After May 9, 2023 incidents ,  a big number PTI leaders had announced to quit the party as a crackdown was launched against them for their incendiary speeches and attacking state installations.

Federal Govt challenges PTI founder’s acquittal in SC

ISLAMABAD:  The federal government has challenged the acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder  and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case in the Supreme Court.

The appeals were filed in Supreme Court through Ministry of Interior against High Court decision, in which it has been requested that the appeals against the decision of the founder of PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi on June 3, be accepted.

In the petition, the Supreme Court has been requested to approve the appeals and annul the decision of acquittal.

In the filed petition, it was said that according to the Official Secrets Act, 1923, no appeal can be made against the decision of the special judge, the founder of PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi did not cooperate in the trial court The trial court heard and decided on 65 petitions on behalf of the accused.

It should be remembered that on June 3, the Islamabad High Court acquitted the founder of PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad acquitted Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and others in two long march vandalism cases.

Judicial Magistrate Sessions Court Shehzad Khan also acquitted Shah Mahmood Qureshi , Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Shireen Mazari , Ali Nawaz Awan, Faisal Javed, Saifullah Niazi, Qasim Suri and Raja Khurram Nawaz in Long March vandalism case.

The cases against Khan and other politicians were registered in the Kohsar and Karachi Company police stations for violation of Section 144.

The court’s verdict came during the hearing of acquittal pleas filed by the PTI founder and other politicos.

Talking to the media on the occasion of court appearance, Sheikh Rasheed said that democracy is suffering from serious problems and the government is unpopular.

The head of Awami Muslim League said that the common man should think, there is anxiety in the country which will increase the problems of democracy.

LAHORE: Co-chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)  and former federal minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi challenged the rejection of nomination papers in the Lahore High Court.

Papers PP 218, NA 151 and 150 of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi were rejected.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi has approached the Lahore High Court(LHC)  on the rejection of papers from three constituencies.

RAWALPINDI: A local Court sent former federal minister and Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi on a 14-day judicial remand in May 9 cases.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s name has been included in 12 more cases while the court sent him to jail on judicial remand in all the cases.

The prosecutor said 12 cases have been registered against Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Rawalpindi district on May 9. The PTI leader has also been named in the GHQ, Army Museum attack, sensitive institution office attack, and Metro bus station burning cases while he has been arrested in all 12 cases.

The prosecutor has requested the court to allow Shah Mahmood to be interrogated in all the cases together.

The prosecutor has also requested the physical remand of Shah Mehmood till January 2 in all 12 cases.

Later, the court rejected the prosecutor’s request for physical remand and sent him to Adiala jail on a 14-day judicial remand in all cases.

RAWALPINDI: The Deputy Commissioner(DC) has issued detention orders for former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The orders for the detention of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi were issued by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, which was issued on the recommendation of the Pindi Police Chief.

The DC orders said that Shah Mahmood Qureshi is named in the May 9 cases and he needs to be investigated, hence his detention orders are issued.

Sources said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi is likely to be detained in Adiala Jail.

It should be noted that the bail of Imran Khan’s co-accused Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case was approved by the Supreme Court.

Talking to the media, Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s lawyer Taimur Malik said the 3-member bench of the Supreme Court has approved Shah Mahmood’s bail and the certified copy of the Supreme Court’s order has been received, we have also submitted the documents to the court.

Barrister Taimur Malik said, “We asked the court to issue Shah Mehmood’s release order, now we have come to know that the judge has gone to Islamabad, today if the release order is not issued, we will approach the Supreme Court again”.
