Rajinikanth Hospitalized in Chennai Amid Health Concerns

Rajinikanth was hospitalized late Monday night in Chennai.
He had complained of chest pain.
He was admitted due to a swelling in the main blood vessel.

Legendary Tamil actor Rajinikanth was hospitalized late Monday night in Chennai after experiencing stomach pain. On September 30, 2024, the 73-year-old celebrity was admitted to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road.

In a health update, the hospital stated, “Mr. Rajinikanth was admitted due to a swelling in the main blood vessel leaving his heart (aorta). This was treated by a non-surgical, transcatheter method.”

Senior interventional cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish carried out the endovascular repair procedure. “Dr. Satish successfully placed a stent in Rajinikanth’s aorta to seal off the swelling. His well-wishers and fans can rest assured that the operation went as planned. Rajinikanth is stable and recovering well, and he should be able to return home in two days,” the statement added.

Respected in South India and elsewhere, the actor caused a great deal of anxiety among his loyal followers. Many celebrities and politicians have sent their best wishes for a quick recovery to him.

Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister tweeted, “Hospitalized friend Superstar Mr. @rajinikanth, I wish him a speedy recovery.”

Fellow actor Kamal Haasan also sent his well wishes, tweeting, “I wish my dear friend, Superstar @rajinikanth, who is hospitalized, a speedy recovery.”

Rajinikanth is expected to be discharged soon, following the successful procedure.

The major announcement has arrived, confirming the previous rumors. “Thalaivar 171” has now been officially revealed, and Rajinikanth is collaborating with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for his upcoming film. Following the success of “Jailer,” the music for this film will once again be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and Sun Pictures is the production house behind it.

Sun Pictures, the makers of “Thalaivar171,” took to Twitter to make the official announcement, sharing a poster that unveils the tentative title, “Thalaivar 171,” against a backdrop of red and black, with blood splatters. The action sequences are entrusted to Anbariv, renowned for their work in “KGF.”

It’s noteworthy that Rajinikanth and Sun Pictures recently delivered a massive blockbuster with “Jailer,” which shattered multiple box office records, raking in Rs 650 crores. To celebrate this monumental success, Kalainthi Maran generously gifted expensive cars and substantial checks to the superstar, director Nelson Dilipkumar, and music composer Anirudh.

Anticipation for “Thalaivar171” is already sky-high, as it marks Rajinikanth’s next release following the highly anticipated “Leo” starring Thalapathy Vijay. The inclusion of Anirudh, whose music played a pivotal role in the success of “Jailer,” is another exciting factor.

Rajinikanth’s Film ‘Jailer’ Poised To Cross ₹300 Crore Mark At Indian Box Office

Rajinikanth’s Tamil movie “Jailer” is poised to surpass the ₹300 crore milestone at the domestic box office. The film garnered ₹3.65 crore on its second Wednesday across languages in India, according to reports. The film’s current total at the domestic box office is ₹295.65 crore. “Jailer” was released on August 10, a day before Akshay Kumar’s “OMG 2” and Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2.” While “Gadar 2” is leading, “Jailer” holds the second position. Although “Gadar 2” has surpassed the ₹400 crore mark, “Jailer” is on track to reach the ₹300 crore mark soon.

“Jailer” opened at ₹48.35 crore on a Thursday, surpassing “Gadar 2,” which opened a day later with ₹40 crore. In its first week, “Jailer” accumulated ₹235.85 crore but experienced a slowdown after its second weekend.

The film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar has become the second fastest Tamil film to cross ₹550 crore globally in just 12 days. The quickest film to achieve this feat was Rajinikanth’s 2018 movie “2.0,” which accomplished the milestone in eight days. The movie also features Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, and Vasanth Ravi. Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff make guest appearances in the film. Tamannaah Bhatia plays a role and is featured in a special dance number called “Kaavaalaa,” which gained popularity on the internet even before the film’s release. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has returned to Chennai after his spiritual journey to Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. He offered prayers at the Badrinath Temple in Chamoli, Ram Janmbhoomi, Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya, and other places. Along the way, he met various politicians, including Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, and Jharkhand governor C. P. Radhakrishnan.

In just 10 days since its release, Rajinikanth’s action-packed movie “Jailer” has achieved an impressive worldwide gross of ₹500 crore. According to trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, “Jailer” has joined the exclusive ₹500 crore club, making it the third Tamil film to do so after “2.0” (2018) and “Ponniyin Selvan: I” (2022). As per early estimates, “Jailer” earned ₹18 crore nett in India across all languages on its tenth day. The Tamil film has been dubbed into Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Initially releasing on August 10 with a ₹48.35 crore nett opening across all languages, “Jailer” has now garnered approximately ₹263.9 crore nett in India so far. After a ₹10.05 crore nett collection on Friday, the film experienced a significant surge on Saturday, amassing ₹18 crore nett. During its opening week, the film had collected ₹235.85 crore nett in India across all languages.

The global collection of the film is equally remarkable. This Rajinikanth-starrer marks the third Tamil movie to surpass the ₹500 crore benchmark. Impressively, it ranks as the second-fastest film to achieve this feat, trailing only behind “2.0,” which starred Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar.

Esteemed Tamil actor Rajinikanth’s movie “Jailer” is on track to achieve an impressive ₹150 crore nett earnings in India. As reports suggest, the film accumulated an estimated ₹38 crore on Sunday, encompassing all languages throughout the country. The report further highlighted that “Jailer” had thus far garnered ₹222.1 crore nett worldwide, inching closer to the remarkable ₹300 crore nett mark globally. Additionally, the movie has already achieved ₹300 crores at the worldwide box office within merely four days, as confirmed by trade analyst Ramesh Bala. The aggregate box office collection for “Jailer” currently hovers around ₹146.4 crore nett in India across all languages, according to reports. The Tamil film has been skillfully dubbed into Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Upon its premiere, the film commenced with ₹48.35 crore nett earnings across all languages on Thursday. However, it experienced a 46.74% drop on Friday, amassing ₹25.75 crore. Day 3, Saturday, witnessed the movie’s earnings at ₹34.3 crore.

Taking to Twitter, Ramesh Bala reported, “Jailer crossed the ₹300 crore gross mark at the WW (worldwide) box office in four days! This is the 4th movie for superstar Rajinikanth to enter the ₹300 crore club (after) Enthiran (2010), Kabali (2016) and 2.0 (2018).” Directed by Nelson, the film marks Rajinikanth’s triumphant return to the silver screen after a two-year hiatus, with the actor portraying a retired police officer. The official trailer for Rajinikanth’s “Jailer,” titled “Jailer Showcase,” was unveiled earlier this month.

“Jailer” also boasts an ensemble cast, including Jackie Shroff, Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan. The esteemed Malayalam actor Mohanlal makes an extended cameo appearance in the film. Notably, “Jailer” set a substantial benchmark by amassing ₹48.35 crore nett across all languages on its opening day, establishing the most impressive inauguration of 2023 in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Two highly anticipated movies, both titled “Jailer,” are slated to hit theaters on August 10, leading to a clash at the box office. The Tamil film “Jailer,” starring the legendary Rajinikanth, and the Malayalam film “Jailer,” led by Dhyan Sreenivasan, have become embroiled in controversy due to their identical titles, sparking a legal battle between the two productions.

The conflict arose when Sakkir Madathil, the director of the Malayalam film “Jailer,” claimed that he had registered the title with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) in 2021, well before the announcement of the Tamil film’s title. He had requested the production house Sun Pictures, behind Rajinikanth’s “Jailer,” to consider renaming their film and releasing it in Malayalam to avoid any confusion. However, the production house declined the request and chose to stick with the original title, “Jailer.”

In response to the dispute, legal proceedings were initiated, with both parties taking the matter to the Madras High Court. The hearing is scheduled for August 2, just days before the simultaneous releases.

“Jailer,” starring Rajinikanth, promises to be an action-packed thriller with the superstar playing the role of a determined jailer on a crucial mission. The movie boasts a star-studded cast, including Tamannaah Bhatia, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff, and is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

On the other hand, Dhyan Sreenivasan’s “Jailer” is a period thriller set in the year 1956-57. Actress Divya Pillai leads the cast in this gripping tale. Despite their shared title, it’s essential to note that the two films have entirely distinct storylines.

The makers of the Malayalam “Jailer” are concerned that the identical titles could lead to confusion among the audience. Nonetheless, both films are eagerly anticipated by their respective fan bases, and the clash at the box office has only heightened the excitement surrounding their releases.

As the legal battle intensifies, cinephiles and industry experts eagerly await the court’s decision, which will determine whether both “Jailer” films can coexist with the same title or if one production will be required to make a change.
