Murad, Swati cleared to contest Senate elections

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has dismissed the petitions challenging the acceptance of nomination papers for prominent Senate election candidates Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, Faisal Javed, Khurram Zeeshan and Azhar Mashwani.

Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Waqar Ahmed of Peshawar High Court heard the petition filed by Murad Saeed against approval of papers for Senate elections.

During the hearing, Murad Saeed’s lawyer told the court that Taj Mohammad Afridi has withdrawn the papers and now he is not a Senate candidate. He cannot object if he is not a candidate.

At the same time, Amir Javed Advocate took the position in the court that Taj Mohammad Afridi is an objector from the beginning, he was also a candidate when filing the application, Murad Saeed did not provide correct details regarding the cases, Murad Saeed did not disclose the assets, while Murad Saeed did not disclose the assets. Murad Saeed did not even deposit the fine imposed for violating the code of conduct.

Amir Javed Advocate told the court that Murad Saeed’s papers for the National Assembly were rejected for not submitting the fine and the appeal has to be filed by himself, but Murad Saeed is absconding.

On this, Justice Arshad Ali remarked that the Supreme Court has made it clear about the absconding, an petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court for the details of the cases, while the assets have been disclosed and the FBR documents are present.

Justice Arshad Ali in his remarks further said that Murad Saeed’s confirmation and endorser himself appeared before the RO, how can the signature be fake, Murad Saeed also signed, the video was also shown to the RO.

Appellate Tribunal declares Murad Saeed eligible for Senate election

PESHAWAR:  The Appellate Tribunal declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Murad Saeed eligible for the Senate elections.

Appellate Tribunal judge Justice Shakeel Ahmed heard Murad Saeed’s appeal. The tribunal accepted Murad Saeed’s appeal.

Apart from this, the Appellate Tribunal approved the nomination papers of PTI leader Azam Swati to contest the general seat of the Senate.

The tribunal dismissed appeals against the acceptance of the nomination papers of Dilawar Khan, Rubina Khalid, Fida Mohammad, and Azhar Mashwani.

Murad Saeed, Azam Swati’s papers for Senate election rejected

PESHAWAR: The nomination papers of two Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leaders for the Senate elections were rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP).

ECP Spokesperson said the electoral body rejected the nomination papers of PTI leaders Murad Saeed and Azam Swati for the Senate election from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on general and technocrat seats, respectively.

Similarly, the nomination papers of the leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians and former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan have also been rejected.

The ECP has also issued the final list of 30 candidates whose nomination papers have been approved including 16 for general seats, eight for technocrat, and six for women’s seats.

The development comes as the ECP is set to hold elections for 48 seats of the upper house on April 2 which were vacated after the expiration of the six-year term of the incumbent senators on March 11.

The members of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, and Punjab assemblies would vote to elect members against seven general seats, two women and two seats for technocrats, including Ulema.

ATC declares 7 PTI leaders as proclaimed offenders

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court declared seven leaders of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI)  as proclaimed offender in the case of burning police vehicles on Mall Road.

The Anti-Terrorism Court took action on the request of the police, a case has been registered against the accused in the Sarwar Road police station.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) declared Azam Khan Swati, Murad Saeed and Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh as accomplices in the police vehicle burning case.

Apart from this, Hafiz Farhat, Muhammad Zubair Niazi, Wasiq Qayyum and Hamid Raza have also been declared proclaimed offenders by the Anti-Terrorism Court.

The investigating officer said that the advertisements of the accused were also published but they are not appearing.

The accused have deliberately gone into hiding and the accused are involved in burning police vehicles near Jinnah House on May 9.

SWAT: The nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former member of the National Assembly Murad Saeed from NA-2 and NA-4 constituencies were rejected.

It should be noted that Murad Saeed’s lawyers submitted his nomination papers from two National Assembly constituencies of Swat.

Sources say that Murad Saeed’s nomination papers have been rejected from both constituencies.

According to the sources, objections have been raised on the nomination of Murad Saeed’s papers that, he is proclaimed offender and wanted in several cases.

Earlier, the National Database & Registration Authority(NADRA) had blocked the identity cards of 18 advertisers involved in the May 9 incidents, including Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, and Hamad Azhar, at the request of the police for not appearing in the anti-terrorism court.

The names of the accused persons have also been included in the no-fly list.

Court issues orders to release Murad Saeed’s father

Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) ordered release of Muhammad Saeed Ullah , the father of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Saeed while issuing written verdict.

PHC judge Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Fazal Subhan issued the verdict reserved on Tuesday.

The PHC instructed Saeedullah to submit a bail bond of Rs200,000.

On this occasion, after hearing the arguments of the parties, the judge ordered Saeed Ullah to be released on bail and later a written decision was issued. The court called for records from the Additional Attorney General(AAG).

The written decision states that the petitioner should submit a bond of Rs 200,000 to the concerned Deputy Commissioner. The notification of the 3MPO issued on August 5 is suspended.

The court says that the Saeed Ullah was accused of disturbing peace and provoking speeches, which was not proved by the record.

According to the written decision, the liberty of any citizen cannot be terminated without any proof, keeping the petitioner in jail without any concrete proof is not permissible, therefore the notification of  August 5 is suspended.
