Stand-up comedian Samay Raina, who gained immense popularity with his talent show India’s Got Latent, recently addressed the controversy surrounding a remark made on the show by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps.

The controversial question led to multiple FIRs against Samay and his fellow judges, resulting in a temporary ban on their content. While Ranveer was granted relief by the Supreme Court, Samay has now issued a statement expressing regret.

Following the backlash over Ranveer’s controversial remark, Samay left for his Canada tour. However, after multiple summons, he appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Police on March 24 in Navi Mumbai.

During questioning, he apologized for the comments made on his show, assuring authorities that such an incident would not happen again. “I feel deep regret for what I said. It happened in the flow of the show, and I had no intention of saying it. I realise that what I said was wrong,” he stated, admitting the controversy affected his mental health and impacted his tour.

While Ranveer’s remark was originally from OG Crew’s Truth or Drink, a resurfaced video revealed comedian Kanan Gill had asked the same question in 2015. Now, fans wonder if and when Samay will return to YouTube.

‘No Other Land’ director Hamdan Ballal assaulted by Israeli settlers, detained by Israeli military

Hamdan Ballal
  • Israeli settlers assaulted Hamdan Ballal, co-director of No Other Land.
  • Ballal was one of three Palestinians taken into custody.
  • Filmmaker Basel Adra witnessed the incident.

Israeli settlers assaulted Hamdan Ballal, a Palestinian co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, in the occupied West Bank on Monday before he was detained by the Israeli military, according to witnesses and fellow filmmakers.

Ballal was one of three Palestinians taken into custody in Susiya, as confirmed by attorney Leah Tsemmel, who stated they were held at a military base for medical treatment but were unreachable.

Filmmaker Basel Adra, who witnessed the incident, reported that around two dozen settlers, some masked and armed, raided the village. Soldiers pointed guns at Palestinians as settlers “continued throwing stones.”

“We came back from the Oscars and every day since there is an attack on us,” Adra told AP, adding, “This might be their revenge on us for making the movie. It feels like a punishment.”

The Israeli military claimed the detainees threw rocks, which AP’s sources disputed.

Settlers stormed Ballal’s home, where his wife overheard him screaming, “I’m dying.” Adra later saw him blindfolded and handcuffed before being taken away.

No Other Land, which documents the Masafer Yatta residents’ struggle against Israeli demolitions, recently won an Oscar, attracting international acclaim.

Non-bailable arrest warrant issued for Nazish Jahangir in fraud case

Nazish Jahangir
  • A Lahore court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Nazish Jahangir.
  • The case was filed by actor Aswad Haroon.
  • He urged the court to order the return of his money and vehicle.

A Lahore court has issued non-bailable arrest warrant for actor Nazish Jahangir in connection with a Rs2.5 million fraud case. The judicial magistrate of Cantt Kutchery Court, Ghulam Shabbir Sial, ordered that Jahangir be arrested and presented before the court on Saturday, March 22.

The case was filed by actor Aswad Haroon, who alleged that Jahangir borrowed Rs2.5 million and a car from him for two months but failed to return either within the agreed timeframe. He stated that despite filing a police complaint, he did not receive justice. He urged the court to order the return of his money and vehicle.

Registered in 2024 under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code—cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property—the case claims Jahangir borrowed the money and car for a project but did not return them even after six months. Haroon further alleged that when he attempted to recover his property, Jahangir arranged a meeting at a farmhouse but failed to appear. Instead, a man named Sikandar Khan allegedly threatened him with weapons.

Jahangir previously sought pre-arrest bail, arguing that the FIR was registered with “malafide intention and for ulterior motives just to humiliate and harass the petitioner.” However, her plea was dismissed.

Gal Gadot being honored with Walk of Fame star ignites social media criticism

Gal Gadot
  • Gal Gadot was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
  • Not everyone on the internet believes she deserved the accolade.
  • Netizens questioned what significant contributions earned her the honor.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony, held outside El Capitan Theater, was attended by her husband, four daughters, director Patty Jenkins, and actor Vin Diesel. Gadot reflected on her Hollywood journey in her speech, but not everyone on the internet believes she deserved the accolade.

Social media users questioned what significant contributions earned her the honor. TikToker Kevin Smith called it “one of the funniest things”, sarcastically listing her filmography: “May I ask the age-old question, ‘for what? What did she do to earn this?’ Was it her scintillating role in Red Notice? Or performance of a lifetime in Netflix’s Heart of Stone? Or Joss Whedon’s Justice League?” The comment section echoed similar sentiments, with one user stating, “She can’t even act. It’s torture to watch her.”

Meanwhile, Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was disrupted by both pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protesters, leading to a delay and police intervention. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators held signs and chanted against Israeli military actions, citing recent casualties in Gaza, while pro-Israeli supporters defended Gadot and expressed grief over the October 7 attack.

The controversy surrounding Gadot’s recognition intensified online, with critics condemning her support for Israel and her past military service.

Pakistani author Fatima Bhutto denounced her award, referencing Israeli attacks on Gaza that resulted in significant civilian casualties. Social media users accused Gadot of hypocrisy, arguing that she promotes love and kindness while remaining silent on Palestinian suffering. Others criticized Hollywood for honoring her amid ongoing conflict, further fueling debate over her stance and the broader Israeli-Palestinian crisis.

Renowned Pakistani actress Hareem Farooq recently addressed the never-ending questions about her marriage with a mix of humor and honesty.

During a special Ramadan transmission, Hareem shared her lighthearted frustration over the frequent inquiries. “Everywhere I go, people ask me about marriage,” she said, highlighting how it has become a recurring question in her life.

Joking about an industry superstition, she added, “I’ve worked with Fahad Mustafa and Usman Mukhtar, but despite all that, I’m still not married!” She playfully referred to the belief that appearing on Fahad Mustafa’s show or working with Usman Mukhtar leads to marriage, adding, “But that formula isn’t working for me!”

On a more serious note, Hareem revealed that even her parents bring up the topic every year. “They’ve been asking for years, but nothing has worked out so far,” she admitted.

She humorously recalled how her parents react when a marriage proposal arrives. “How dare the boy send a proposal?” she said, explaining that they prefer to handle the matter themselves.

Despite all the pressure, Hareem remains optimistic. “Considering how often I’m being asked, I feel like I might get married now!” she concluded with a laugh.

Bushra Ansari expresses concern over Ramazan transmissions’ impact on worship

  • She stated that they have shifted people’s focus away from worship.
  • She reflected on how the essence of fasting has changed over the years.

Veteran Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has voiced her concerns over the increasing trend of Ramazan transmissions, stating that they have shifted people’s focus away from worship during the holy month. In her latest vlog, she reflected on how the essence of fasting has changed over the years.

Speaking while preparing Iftar at home, Ansari shared her thoughts with fans, recalling how, in the past, people fasted with sincerity, recited the Holy Quran, and engaged in prayers. However, she noted a shift in recent times. “Now people spend their fasting hours watching Ramazan transmissions instead of focusing on worship,” she remarked.

She acknowledged that while such programs did exist before, they were not as widespread as they are today. Comparing past traditions to the present, she said, “When people did not watch Ramazan transmissions, they would engage more in worship, recite prayers, and truly spend their fasts in devotion.”

Ansari admitted that she occasionally participates in these shows, as they bring joy to audiences. However, she emphasized that the growing obsession with entertainment during Ramazan has led people to fast without true devotion, spending more time in front of screens than in spiritual reflection.

  • HSY advised that everyone should wear it.

Renowned fashion designer Hassan Sheharyar Yasin (HSY) recently appeared on a Ramadan transmission, sharing insights on the growing trend of the farshi shalwar. Contrary to restrictive fashion norms, HSY emphasized that this style is for everyone.

When asked who should avoid wearing it, he responded, “Everyone should wear it.” He explained that the farshi shalwar is an inclusive trend, allowing people to dress modestly while looking elegant. “Our women may come from different backgrounds, but they all have the same religion,” he said, adding that the garment does not reveal body curves.

Addressing concerns about pairing the shalwar with short shirts, he advised, “Wear it with a long shirt—it looks beautiful.” He suggested keeping the slit (chaak) just above the knee but adjusting it based on body shape.

HSY also shared practical tips, such as using georgette, chiffon, or thin silk for flowy shirts and opting for pure cotton for everyday shalwars. He even revealed a tailoring trick: “Adding a drawstring or embroidery at the hem helps it fall straight.”

Encouraging accessibility, he stated, “Fashion and looking beautiful is everyone’s right,” making it clear that style should be inclusive and tailored to individual needs.
