Cement prices record marginal increase on weekly basis

Cement industry sees growth in export sector

In the past week, the price of cement has seen a noticeable increase in the northern cities of Pakistan while remaining steady in the southern regions.

According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the average retail price per sack of cement in northern cities reached Rs 1,254, marking a 2.96 percent rise from the previous week’s Rs 1,217.

Conversely, southern cities maintained stable cement prices, with the average retail price per bag remaining at Rs 1,199, consistent with the previous week’s figures.

A breakdown of prices in various cities reveals that Islamabad recorded an average of Rs 1,222 per sack, Rawalpindi Rs 1,228, Gujranwala Rs 1,290, and Lahore Rs 1,273, among others.

In southern cities like Karachi, the average retail price per sack stood at Rs 1,166, Hyderabad at Rs 1,180, and Quetta at Rs 1,195, reflecting stability in prices compared to the previous week.

These fluctuations in cement prices may impact construction projects and consumer spending in the respective regions.
