Netflix’s Bridgerton upcoming season will star actress Hannah New

Hannah New from Black Sails will join the cast of Bridgerton on Netflix.

Lady Tilley Arnold, a fiery widow, will be portrayed by New. According to the source, New’s character experiences early widowhood. She does, however, take use of the advantages and power that come with running her ex-fortune, husband’s leading a life of sexual and financial independence.

The 38-year-old actress is most known for her four seasons of Black Sails’ Eleanor Guthrie. Hannah also made her name portraying Princess Leila opposite Angelina Jolie in the 2014 film Maleficent. She has since been in Danny Boyle’s Trust and Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain, both of which were produced by FX. Additionally, she is a leading lady in Julian Gilbey’s Summit Fever alongside Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Thorp.

The upcoming season of Bridgerton will centre on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s romance (aka Lady Whistledown). Penelope “determined it’s time to marry a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence” so she can continue to live both her lives as Penelope and as the infamous author Lady Whistledown after she has given up on her crush on Colin.

Colin on the other hand returns from his summer travels “with a new look and a serious sense of swagger.” However, the young Bridgerton lad is disheartened to see that his friend, Penelope is now giving him the “cold shoulder.” In a bid to win her friendship again, Colin offers to help her in finding her a husband by giving her lesson on confidence. Although, he will soon find himself in a dilemma – whether he likes her as just a friend or more…

While Netflix has not announced a date, the series is currently in production, which means new episodes are likely to be released sometime in 2023.

Meghan Markle is under criticism in the United States for utilising the Royal Family and the grievances she has as a meal ticket.

Tina Brown, a royal novelist and former Vanity Fair editor, revealed this information.

During a visit to the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the author of The Palace Papers accused the princess of continuously “airing her grievances.”

Ms Brown started by confessing, “Harry’s always going to be royal. He will always have the iconic status that that has. He does have an identity, his Invictus has an authenticity and people relate to that.”

“I think Meghan does really need to find the thing she cares about the most and develop her own sort of brand that isn’t just a grievance brand — that is actually something we recognise as hers.”

“It’s hard to find that and I think she hasn’t yet found that but I think she could if she rows back from the focusing always on what didn’t work.”

During her interview, she even accused the couple of underestimating the difficulties that would arise as a result of their quest for economic gain.

She continued, “The Sussexes didn’t realise how hard it was to create a rival platform. You’re essentially at the mercy of PRs.”

“The people who achieved it, the George Clooneys and the Oprahs, they are very good at it.”

“It’s very difficult when you want to be above it. It’s much harder than it looks. Given that they’ve now staked their livelihoods on product, on entertainment, it’s going to be about what they do.”

Annette O’Toole, who plays Hope McCrea on the show, revealed in an exclusive interview that viewers can anticipate a significant event to occur in the middle of the series.

“There is a big thing that happens right in the middle of the season that brings the community together in a very big way. It’s a kind of timely topic that’s happening in our country and I’m really glad that they’re going there,” said the 70-year-old actress.

“I don’t think we’ve ever done anything like this. It’s an important issue and I’m glad that we’re getting into things like that on the show. I don’t know if that will continue but it certainly is something that the town gets to all come together and be part of and work together.”

Previously, in another interview with New Beauty, O’Toole was asked about the upcoming episodes.

“I think this season has started out well and we’re getting into a few episodes soon that are pretty heavy. They’re really intense and I think that they’re some of the best episodes we’ve ever done,” the star revealed.

“I never say that either! I think that there’s a high sense of drama that starts to come up this season that it’s going to leave people on the edge of their seats. At least, I hope. I’m excited to get into that.”
