SHC directs to immediately remove encroachments from Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday directed the concerned authorities to remove encroachments from main arteries of the megalopolis including Qayyumabad roundabout right away, Bol News reported.

SHC Justice Nadeem Akhtar directed to remove encroachments from around Qayyumabad flyover and other areas in the metropolis. He said excessive encroachments were established around the flyover.

He pointed out that the encroachments were reestablished within few days of anti-encroachment operations. The city’s highways were filled with encroachments, he said.

Justice Nadeem Akhtar said it was responsibility of the commissioner and others to remove the encroachments. He directed to remove encroachments from the city in two days.

“Police check-posts are established where more encroachments are established. All the relevant organisations should adopt zero-tolerance policy on the issue of encroachments,” he said.

He asked why the court was needed to give orders for getting rid of encroachments. The organisations responsible for that should do their work, he said.
