After returning to India for the 2023 Oscars, actor Ram Charan attended an event in Delhi where he discussed RRR, the Oscars, his acting career, upcoming projects, and many other topics.
At the Delhi airport on Friday, a sea of admirers and supporters greeted the actor. At the 95th Academy Awards, RRR became the first Indian film to win an Oscar in the Original Song category. This made history. Naatu Naatu received a standing ovation during its live performance at the Oscars in 2023. The performance was introduced on stage by actress Deepika Padukone.
When asked at the event if he considers himself a global superstar and about the rise of south Indian cinema, the actor responded, “Yes.” This has begun, and it has had a significant effect on our movies. In Telugu, it is going on with Baahubali and presently crossing all limits. RRR is a big hit, not because it comes from the South, in my opinion. From Bengal to Tamil Nadu, we have numerous industries in the South. Our directors are outstanding. And I believe that the stories that are rooted in our own histories—Magadheera was like that—will really have an impact on the West. That was how Lagaan was. Korea’s parasite—it was their own tale. Anyone who creates films based on their culture, folklore, struggles, and feelings is in India. Additionally, audiences worldwide and in the West are prepared to accept an original individual.
The RRR song Naatu Naatu won the Oscar for Best Original Song, and lyricist Chandrabose and composer MM Keeravaani appeared on stage to accept the honor. Naatu Naatu has truly become a global phenomenon in recent months. The track got people hooting and dancing in the aisles at every recent screening in the West. The fictional RRR is based on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, two well-known revolutionaries who lived in the 1920s prior to independence. Jr. NTR was portrayed by Ram Charan as Bheem.
The Shankar-directed RC 15 will be Ram’s next movie. The Telugu film will star the actor alongside Kiara Advani.
