Rani Mukerji gave a magnificent performance. She is one of Indian cinema’s most accomplished actresses, as “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway” reaffirms.

She was met by a news reporter yesterday afternoon at the Yash Raj Studios, where they had a lengthy conversation about the movie as well as her career so far.

Role of “Mrs. Chatterjee v. Norway” your most difficult role to play?

I won’t say it that way, but it has definitely been my most difficult film to do. Trust me, when Nikkhil Advani called to offer me this, I couldn’t believe what he was telling me. He had called in January 2021, when the pandemic was in full swing, and none of us were in the best of moods. He told me some dramatic and ridiculous things, which led me to believe that he was trying to sell me the movie.

Once we finished talking, I looked up the Sagarika Bhattacharya tale online. Also, the Indian media in 2011 reported it all in detail. I questioned why, despite being an Indian citizen, I was unaware of it. The catalyst was that. I decided right away that this story needed to be conveyed.

Your three most challenging movie scenes?

There will be more than three scenes, I’m afraid. Every situation, in my opinion, is a scary place to be. I also avoided portraying myself in any scene as a mother. I lacked the confidence to take that risk. Keep in mind that numerous Sagarikas have experienced this. My entire self was just overcome by the overwhelming emotion; the writing and plot are truly magical.

Nobody else, in my opinion, could have played this part.

I’m grateful.

Did the media contact you to express their appreciation for your work on “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway”?

When I left the media screening, I noticed that the majority of critics appeared rather shocked. Absolutely, this movie will really astound you. You, an Indian, will be horrified. As an Indian, it will be difficult to accept that you could lose custody of your kids. Truth is stranger than fiction, after all.

Did you need to gain weight to look at your part in this movie?

A woman who is still nursing her child is what I am portraying, so yes. It was crucial for me to appear genuine. We made a conscious effort to make it appear genuine. You’ll see that there are also Hindi, Bengali, English, and Norwegian because we didn’t want to make any concessions to make it sound particularly Hindi. When overwhelmed with emotion, people often start speaking in their mother tongue, and “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway” is full of emotions.
