Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have not publicly commented on Prince Edward and Sophie’s new royal titles as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The new Duchess of Edinburgh is believed to be “relieved” that she will no longer have to bow to Prince Harry‘s wife, Meghan Markle.
The former Countess of Wessex had previously been obligated to defer to Meghan, who was of greater status as the Duchess.
This is no longer the case, as she has been given the title of Duchess of Edinburgh following Prince Edward’s appointment as Duke of Edinburgh by King Charles III on Friday.
According to a couple’s friend, “Sophie is relieved. She no longer has to curtsy to someone in the family who has not only left royal duties but has spent the past three years criticizing the institution that Sophie works so hard to support.”

The relations between the two Duchesses have allegedly been strained since Meghan rejected Sophie as a lifelong mentor as part of the monarchy.
