- Li Qiang said China and US could achieve much together
- China will concentrate on encouraging high-quality development
- He said the One Nation, Two Systems policy will be fully implemented
At the conclusion of the National People’s Congress (NPC), Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang on Monday said the target of growth set by the government of around five percent would be difficult to achieve and require double efforts.
Last year China missed its growth target of 5.5 per cent as it posted only three per cent growth as the economy was bound by strict Covid policies and a property crisis.
Li Qiang said China and the United States could achieve much together through cooperation.
He said the ultimate aim of the government was to fulfil people’s hopes for a better life. China will concentrate on encouraging high-quality development, he added.

With the context of Hong Kong and Macao, he said the One Nation, Two Systems policy will be fully implemented by the central government.
On Taiwan, he said one family of Chinese lived on either side of the Taiwan Straits. Early resumption of regular communication across the Straits demanded cooperative efforts, he added.
On private sector, the premier said China would keep assisting private businesses in accordance with market and law-based principles. He vowed for a better climate and more room for development for private businesses in China.
