The movie starring Rachel McAdams is about a Vermont-based public television painter who has it all, including a custom van and fans who watch his every brushstroke… until everything (and everyone) Carl loves is stolen by a younger, better artist. In addition to directing the film, McAdams also created the screenplay, which tells the colorful tale of two rivals competing to become the television version of Bob Ross. The movie is portrayed as a lighthearted comedy, giving Wilson’s character Carl Nargle room to realize that life is more than just television ratings.

The film, which is scheduled to open in theatres on April 7, also stars Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Ciara Reneé in addition to Wilson. The impact Nargle has on his town, inspiring individuals of all ages and backgrounds with his work, was the main theme of the first Paint trailer. Carl’s demeanor turns hostile and enraged when Ambrosia (Reneé) appears and threatens the position of authority he holds in Vermont. The quiet painter who struggles with his anger issues may be the protagonist of the tale as he tries to understand why people are more drawn to Ambrosia than to him.

Brit McAdams started out making advertisements. Going on to short films, he won an Emmy nomination for his work on the Comedy Central production Honesty. McAdams also helmed the network’s Katt Williams: American Hustle special and the channel’s Tosh series. O. Brit’s feature documentary Triviatown earned numerous honors, and he has also written, directed, and executive produced specials, series, and pilots for numerous networks and streaming sites. Paint will mark a passion project for the filmmaker, as he penned the script more than ten years ago.

What Will Owen Wilson Do Next?

The actor will appear in this summer’s Haunted Mansion after playing Carl Nargle. Wilson will play the part of Kent, a priest hired by Gabbie (Rosario Dawson), a single mother who wants to learn more about the mysterious activity she has witnessed in her new home, in Disney’s live-action tale based on their well-known theme park attraction. Not being aware of the issues with the house, Gabbie moved into the New Orleans mansion when she found it for a very low price. The movie’s first trailer, which was just released, included Wilson.
