Since it was made available on Netflix in October, All Quiet on the Western Front has attracted a lot of attention; according to the media, it has already exceeded the milestone of 150 million hours of total viewing time.
The young Paul Bäumer (Felix Kammerer), who enlists in the Imperial German Army with his companions after hearing authority figures from his past convince them that going to war would make them heroes and that it would be the proper thing to do, is the subject of Edward Berger’s anti-war epic. The teens learn about the terrifying realities of war when they arrive at the front lines.

Given that the movie’s running duration is 147 minutes, the number of viewers is equivalent to the time it would take for the movie to be watched more than a million times. Of again, given that the statistic also includes viewers who merely saw a section of the movie without seeing it through to the end, that may not necessarily be the case.
150 million minutes of screen time is still a highly astounding amount and a testimonial to the film’s excellence, even though it is impossible to tell with certainty how many times the entire film was watched from the opening scene to the closing credits.
This year, the movie was nominated for 9 Academy Awards, including those for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score. German pianist Volker Bertlemann, who performs as Hauschka, was in charge of the soundtrack for the film.
As the composer for Lion, Berterlmann has experience working on films that have received nominations for awards. The number of Oscars that All Quiet on the Western Front will win when the ceremony takes place on Sunday, March 12, is still unknown.
