KARACHI: Professor Dr Perwaiz Ahmed Makhdoom has been appointed as Principal of Sindh Medical College of Jinnah Sindh Medical University.

Prof Dr Perwaiz Ahmad Makhdoom (BPS 20) of the Department of Forensic Medicine of Jinnah Sindh Medical University has been assigned the charge of the Principal of Sindh Medical College in addition to his own duties, according to the notification issued by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Amjad Siraj Memon.

In this regard, Prof. Perwaiz Ahmad Makhdoom thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon for giving him the opportunity to serve as the head of such a prestigious medical college.
He further said that he will work hard for the welfare and prosperity of Sindh Medical College.

On the other hand, a farewell ceremony was held on the occasion of the retirement of Prof. Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi, who was the principal of Sindh Medical College of Jinnah Sindh Medical University for 9 years.

Vice Chancellor Prof Amjad Siraj Memon graced the occasion with his presence.
Registrar Dr Azam Khan, head of most of the departments, including a large number of SMC staff and students also participated.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Amjad Siraj Memon appreciated the services rendered by Prof. Dr Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi for this institution. He said that he was an Excellent Teacher as well as an Excellent Mentor.

He has always played a vital role in the welfare and prosperity of the university and the betterment of students’ education. His educational services will never be forgotten. Today a government employee is retiring, but a teacher never retires, a teacher is always remembered in his pupil’s hearts.

Afterward, Prof Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi thanked the Student Council for organizing the farewell ceremony and said that he has had a long and deep relationship with SMC. He has many memories associated with this college, including the university. He got immense love and respect from this university.

At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi’s birthday cake was also cut and Ajrak and shields were presented to him.
