ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has ordered the acquittal of Lt Gen (retd) Amjad Shoaib.
Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas supra delivered the reserved judgment on the case of the former military officer’s acquittal. The court ordered immediate release.
The retired army officer was detained on February 27 by the Islamabad police from his residence.
He was charged for inciting the public against the state institutions during an interview.
Lt Gen. (retd) Amjad was presented before the court same day of the arrest where his three-day physical remand was approved.
