Gmail new feature allows to admins to disable spam filters

  • Google is rolling out a new feature in Gmail that allows managers to disable spam filters.
  • This gives admins more control over the visibility of warnings and can be turned on or off at the domain and OU levels.
  • Google unveiled a beta version of its client-side encryption for Gmail on the web.

Google announced that it is rolling out a new feature in Gmail, that will allow managers to disable spam filters and conceal warning banners for all users or for “a specific allowlist of senders”.

“You may consider turning off these warnings when conducting anti-phishing training with your end users,” the tech giant warned in a blog post about workplace changes.

The additional choices give admins more control over the visibility of warnings across their organizations, however, they want to configure them.

Furthermore, warning banners can be turned on or off at the domain and OU levels, according to the company.

However, in December last year, Google unveiled a beta version of its client-side encryption for Gmail on the web, which would safeguard sensitive data in email bodies and make attachments unreadable even by Google servers.

“Google Workspace already uses the latest cryptographic standards to encrypt all data at rest and in transit between our facilities. Client-side encryption helps strengthen the confidentiality of your data while helping to address a broad range of data sovereignty and compliance needs,” according to the company.
