Son calls Laurel Aldridge’s disappearance “a nightmare”

  • Laurel Aldridge, 62, has gone missing in West Sussex.
  • And her son Michael Aldridge is pleading for people.
  • To examine sheds, outbuildings, and doorbell footage.

The disappearance of Laurel Aldridge in West Sussex has been compared by her son to “a nightmare.” After leaving her house in Walberton, close to Arundel, at 7:20 GMT on February 14, Laurel Aldridge, 62, has gone missing.

Actor Mackenzie Crook, her sister-in-law, has been assisting in the hunt.

Her son Michael Aldridge made a plea for people to examine sheds, outbuildings, and doorbell footage since her family believes she is still in the neighborhood.

“It is terrible, it’s like a nightmare, in a way we’re waiting to wake up from it,” he said, “but we’ve got each other and we’ve received a lot of love and support from the wider community and that’s really helping us get through.

“We’re continuing to look in the local woodlands and fields. She loved nature so we think that’s perhaps where she’s gone.”

Ms Aldridge is receiving chemotherapy, which Mr. Aldridge said “adds to the urgency” of the search, and he believes could be the reason for her disappearance.

He said: “We think that having chemotherapy is a huge stress and this might have triggered a lapse in her mental health.”

Police released fresh images of Ms. Aldridge taken on the day of her disappearance on Saturday.

She was dressed in a brown bobble hat, a red tartan scarf, a turquoise cardigan, and a grey coat.

She has been labelled as “extremely vulnerable” by the police.
