Lucasfilm debuted a fresh video for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny during the Super Bowl. The film is anticipated to be Harrison Ford’s final journey as the fedora-sporting archaeological explorer.
In addition to welcoming Ford back as Indy, Nazis, the series’ perennial foes, will also be appearing in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Indiana is hired by the US government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis do in the 1936 film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Regarding the 1938 setting of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the Nazis and our favorite explorer both want the Holy Grail. As Lucasfilm has already hinted, the plot of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which takes place in 1969, involves former Nazi officers who infiltrated NASA during the Cold War and the space race. Indy will be entangled with yet another magical artefact.
As the movie’s trailer made clear, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will also include some flashback-focused moments where we’ll learn how Indy met the film’s major nemesis, the evil Voller played by Mads Mikkelsen. Because The Dial of Destiny will hop back and forth in time as if following Indiana Jones on his new journey, the sequel is using leftover footage from Raiders of the Lost Ark to reverse the ageing process of Harrison Ford. Indy will share the screen with Phoebe Waller-Bridge this time around, so he isn’t the sole hero. Waller-Bridge portrays Helena, Indy’s goddaughter, in the follow-up. She might take over Indy’s spelunking duties given that Disney+ is currently working on an Indiana Jones series.
