Rihanna had a triumphant stage comeback on Sunday, performing songs from “Umbrella” to “Diamonds” while floating on a platform above the Super Bowl field. At the stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Rihanna performed while wearing a hot pink jumpsuit as the platform fell to the ground. She was surrounded by scores of white-clad dancers.

The 34-year-old Grammy winner performed on stage for the first time in five years. “Anti,” her most recent album, was released in 2016. The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Prince, and Madonna have all performed at the Super Bowl, the music industry’s biggest event. The American national anthem was performed in American Sign Language during the pre-game ceremony by country singer Chris Stapleton and Troy Kotsur, who won an Oscar for his role in “CODA.” Sheryl Lee Ralph, the Emmy-winning star of “Abbott Elementary,” joined by a choir, sang the hymn “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which has come to be known as the Black national anthem.
