More than 35,000 people injured in Turkey-Syria earthquake

  • At least 7,266 people have died as a result of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

At least 7,266 people have died as a result of the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.

The White Helmets, a volunteer group in Syria also known as Syria Civil Defense, has increased the number of fatalities in opposition-held areas of north-west Syria to 1,020.

In areas under government control, at least 812 people have died, according to Syrian official media. The number of fatalities in Syria now stands at least at 1,832.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that Turkey’s current death toll was 5,434.

Koca claims that there have been at least 31,777 injuries in Turkey.

According to the White Helmets and Syrian state media, at least 3,849 individuals have been injured in Syria, with at least 1,449 of those injuries occurring in areas under government control and at least 2,400 in north-west Syria under opposition control.

In both countries, there have been at least 35,626 injuries.
