• MQM-P moved CJ to take notice of LG polls in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice on the issue of local government (LG) polls in Sindh.

According to the details, MQM Pakistan has also sent a copy of the request to the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Geneva in the matter of local body elections in Sindh.

MQM Pakistan leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui wrote in the letter that the elections were conducted illegally and unconstitutionally in urban Sindh.

Khalid Maqbool wrote in the letter that the notification of the schedule was issued despite the Election Commission quorum not being fulfilled.

“International laws were also ignored in conducting local elections. The rights of the citizens of Sindh were denied in the disputed constituencies and elections,” he added.

He requested the CJ to take suo motu on the LG polls.

A copy of the application was also sent to the Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commission of all provinces, the President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief Minister Sindh, Governor Sindh, Chief Secretary, and Chairman Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
