The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra was announced at the Samsung Unpacked event yesterday. It is the new top smartphone from Samsung, succeeding the Galaxy S22 ultra. The main camera on this year’s phone is 200-megapixels, which is about double the resolution of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. This camera upgrade is accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that has been calibrated specifically for the Galaxy S23 series, according to Samsung.
These improvements are similar to what Apple did when it released the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in September of last year. The iPhone 14 Pro models have a new 48-megapixel primary camera as well as an A16 Bionic CPU. While the new Snapdragon CPU powers the entire Galaxy S23 family, Apple’s recent upgrade reserved the A16 Bionic chip for its Pro phones.
