Pamela Anderson claimed that convincing people that she could write her own book was a “huge battle” and that she put on about 25 pounds while working on the soon-to-be-published memoir alone.

The 55-year-old Baywatch veteran shared her writing process for Love, Pamela with host Howard Stern on Wednesday’s episode of The Howard Stern Show. She revealed that she completed the entire project on her own without the aid of a ghostwriter or partner.

“It was crazy, but I had a physical reaction to telling my story,” Anderson told Stern, 69, then noting that she shed the extra weight when she finished the project. “It was almost like I was hanging on to something — It was a protective … my puffy suit of armor. I don’t know what it was — I was thinking it was some kind of protection.”

Reliving her past, according to Anderson, “had its toll” on her mental state, but in the end, she assured her publisher that she would only write the book “if she could tell it herself.” The business “particularly appreciated,” Anderson continued, “her writing style.”

A private sex tape that Anderson, a former Playboy model and one of the biggest sex icons in the world in the 1990s, had stolen and disseminated only increased her notoriety. She and musician Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe have two boys together, Dylan, 26, and Brandon, 25.

Anderson said to Stern that she and Lee, 60, “text here and there” as parents and that their relationship is “nothing insane,” adding that the musician is happily married to comedian Brittany Furlan Lee.

“She’s good to him and I totally support that and think that’s great, she continued, adding: “I hate to be annoying and going through this again, I’m sure she’s annoyed, but I respect their relationship and just glad he’s happy and has someone in his life.”

In an interview with news earlier this month, Anderson shared similar opinions, adding, “Sometimes we check in with each other. You recognize the voice. He sings well. He just seems to be feeling normal and at home, I guess.”

She added: “He has a wife, and obviously I respect that relationship, and he is very happy and I’m happy for him. I’m just glad my boys are so well-adjusted, and I’m very proud of them because they’ve had to navigate, not an easy childhood either, but they did it. They’ve done it, and the future is to be seen.”

Anderson made the decision to share her personal tale after Pam & Tommy, a 2022 Hulu series based on the sex tape scandal that received 10 Emmy nominations, debuted.

When she realized that her life was once again taking the center stage without her awareness, she recalled thinking, “What the heck is this?” after watching the Pam & Tommy show on Hulu or some promo for it.

Anderson said, “No one called me, no one asked me. “I’m still breathing,” She afterward learned that it was a “shallow” portrayal of her and Lee. The mother of two said, “I wish they would have called.

Love, Pamela’s cover was revealed in October; HarperCollins and Dey Street Books will publish the book on January 31.

In a recent interview with the news, Anderson stated that the book is “a celebration of faults” and details “just one girl’s chaotic life.”
