A man’s body was discovered outside in a Kenton residential area, and a murder investigation is currently underway.

On Friday at around 20:20 GMT, paramedics were summoned to the Brigham Avenue neighborhood in Kenton, Newcastle.

Police said the man’s facial injuries, which were consistent with being assaulted, were found in a grassy area when they found the man, who was in his 50s.

He was pronounced dead at the spot, and specially trained police officers are assisting his next of kin.

Police are requesting that witnesses or anyone with information get in touch with them.

Northumbria Police Det Ch Insp Martin Brooks stated: “We believe the man was seriously assaulted on Friday night, and whoever was responsible for those injuries has since departed the scene.

“We are carrying out a huge range of enquiries in order to trace anyone believed to have been responsible.”
