- Foxconn has begun the trial production phase of the iPhone 15.
People with knowledge of the situation claim that Apple has begun trial production of the iPhone 15 in China and is looking to speed up manufacturing in India as well.
In order for Apple to determine how the actual production will proceed once the new iPhones are approved, the so-called NPI (New Product Introduction) process typically takes place in the first quarter of the year.

According to reports, Foxconn has begun the critical trial production phase of the Apple iPhone 15s, which aims to resolve differences amongst all parties involved in the procedure. This includes working with producers and suppliers, testing new equipment, and optimizing the quality assurance procedure.

The report claims that Apple plans to close the production time difference between China and India in addition to starting the NPI process. Currently, Apple starts its actual production six to nine months before it does in India. As Apple works to forge relationships with Indian partners, that will most likely change very soon.
The ultimate objective is to move 5% of overall output to Indian firms and reduce the gap between Chinese and Indian manufacturing by a few weeks.
