Joel McHale: The “Community” movie will start filming this summer

  • Community movie will start filming in June of this year.
  • Actor Joel McHale revealed the news on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
  • McHale plays a cop turned animal control officer in the series.

Joel McHale revealed in September of last year that the long-awaited ‘Community’ movie was officially in production, fans were ecstatic.

Seven years after Season 6 aired, the long-held fantasy of the show’s fans—”six seasons and a movie”—finally came true. Fans’ journey to see that goal come true has been a long and rocky one, but things are now moving.

The actor recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he announced that filming will start in June of this year.

To promote his forthcoming series Animal Control, McHale appeared on the programme. Since McHale portrays a cop turned animal control officer in the series, an albino Burmese Python was brought out during the interview.

Then, Kimmel brought up the fact that he had a monkey coworker in Community and questioned him about the impending film. McHale stated, “We are, and the Community movie will be shot in June, so… Thank you for being mindful.” Although the actor kept quiet about the film, he cracked a joke and said, “I can tell Ken Jeong’s going to be in it.”

The show, which was filmed at Greendale Community College, centred on former attorney Jeff Winger (McHale), who was compelled to enroll there in order to earn a diploma from a recognised institution.

He meets a few oddball classmates there and starts a Spanish study club, which quickly turns into his adopted family. The group has delighted fans over the years with crazy circumstances, well-known paintball battles, other timelines, animated shows, and meta-commentary.

The majority of the actors, including McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, and Jeong, were confirmed to return when the movie was first announced by Peacock; however, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, and Yvette Nicole Brown were conspicuously absent from the cast roster.

Don Harmon, the show’s creator, previously stated that he did not completely rule out the possibility of adding the actors to the roster, saying, “I think if there’s names missing from a list, it’s because the names that are on the list, and their deals are agreed upon enough that it’s OK to say they are on the list, and anybody that’s not on a list, it’s just not the case yet. So there is nothing official about anybody being out.”
