The US is considering about sending Bradley armored battle vehicles to Ukraine, according to President Joe Biden on Wednesday.
Biden responded “yes” when asked if Bradley vehicles were “on the table” for Ukraine.
An armored vehicle called the Bradley is used to move soldiers across the battlefield. It is equipped with a variety of armaments to defend the crew and engage in combat.
According to a defense official, the US may announce the transfer of Bradley vehicles in the upcoming security package for Ukraine.
After President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s trip to Washington late last month, the US has agreed to provide Ukraine its first brand-new piece of military hardware.
One of the most important and cutting-edge systems Washington has yet given to Kiev, the US declared during that visit that it would supply Patriot aerial defense missiles to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy, though, made it clear that he would still require more as the Ukrainian conflict approaches its one-year mark.
John Kirby, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said on Wednesday that the US is preparing to reveal a fresh aid initiative in the next days or weeks.
Other armored vehicles, such as Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and armored utility vehicles, have previously been delivered to Ukraine by the US. The restoration of T-72 tanks from the Soviet era was also funded by the US.
Despite repeated demands from Ukraine, the US is not yet prepared to deploy M-1 Abrams tanks, according to two defense officials.
