- Sushant Singh flat has been empty for over three years.
- The NRI owner has finally secured a new renter.
- The apartment will be rented out shortly and will cost around Rs. 5 lakh per month.
The Mumbai apartment that the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput rented has been empty for over three years at this point. According to a recent source, the NRI owner has finally secured a new renter, and the apartment will be rented out shortly.
Mumbai real estate broker Rafique Merchant said that the owner of the apartment got in touch with him a few months ago.
Rafique added that potential tenants contacted him after reading stories that the apartment was empty. Rent for the apartment will be Rs. 5 lakh per month.
A 30 lakh security deposit, or six months’ worth of rent, would also be given to the owners. On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput’s body was discovered in the apartment.
Rafique as saying, “We have found somebody (a tenant). We are in the final stage of talks with the family to finalise things. People are now relaxed about it (Sushant’s death) because they say it has been a while.”
Rafique stated last month in regards to finding new renters, “People are terrified to settle into this flat. Prospective tenants would refuse to even see the apartment once they learned that it was the one where he died. Since the story of his passing has gotten old, at least some people are visiting the apartment these days.
The agreement is not, however, being completed. Inflexible and unwilling to reduce the rent is the owner as well. It will be immediately sold if he does. Tenants would prefer to purchase another apartment of a comparable size in the same neighbourhood since it would not come with the baggage of controversy that this apartment is associated with because he is selling it at market value.
“The parties are told in advance that this is where Sushant used to stay. Some people don’t mind the history and want to go for it. But their friends and family members discourage them from going ahead with the deal. Now the owner doesn’t want to rent out the flat to a film celeb, no matter who or how big he or she is. He’s clear that he wants to hand over the flat to a corporate person,” he had said.
The apartment at Mont Blanc Apartments is a 4BHK duplex with a sea view that is 2,500 square feet in size and also has a patio. It is located in Bandra West of Mumbai on Carter Road.
In December 2019 Sushant leased the sixth-floor apartment for three years. He was paying a monthly rent at the time of 4.51 lakh rupees. The late actor lived in an apartment with his housemates and Rhea Chakraborty, who was also an actor at the time.
