In honour of Queen Margrethe II’s Golden Jubilee, the Danish royal family has unveiled two new images of the monarch with her sons and daughters-in-law. The monarch is commemorating her 50th year as monarch.
In one of the photographs, Queen Margrethe is pictured sitting next to Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian, her first child. The Crown Princess Mary, who is wed to Prince Frederik, as well as her other son, Prince Joachim, and his wife, Princess Marie, are standing behind her.
The Danish Queen, who is currently the only reigning monarch in Europe, has held a number of low-key ceremonies in memory of her late third cousin, Queen Elizabeth II.
She went to the Camden, London-based Danish Church of St. Katharine’s earlier this month.
She has a close relationship with the church that her parents, King Frederik and Queen Ingrid, visited for the building’s opening.
Margrethe, 82, is well-known for her artistic accomplishments. They include creating costumes and set designs for theatrical shows, as well as assisting with the Lord of the Rings paintings by J.R.R.

She had originally intended to commemorate the event in January, but the Coronavirus epidemic forced her to postpone her celebrations.
The populace of Denmark holds the attractive Queen in high regard for her commitment to the monarchy.
“Margrethe has approached her long reign with an extreme sense of duty,” Trine Villeman, an author and royal reporter told Vanity Fair last month.
“She truly believes that her position was given to her by God, and being a deeply religious person, she feels a huge sense of obligation.”
