BAHAWALPUR: The Islamia University of Bahawalpur(IUB) is the first Hepatitis Free University in Punjab.

The Governor of Punjab Engr Muhammad Baligh ul Rahman has praised the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof.Dr. Athar Mahboob for making IUB hepatitis free University۔

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in the year 2020 initiated large-scale hepatitis testing, screening, and vaccination with the support of the Punjab Government Health Department. Initially, “22000” faculty, employees, and students of the university were tested and the vaccination was started.

Today, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is the only university in Punjab which is a hepatitis-free university.

Governor Punjab Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman visited the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and was informed about the anti-hepatitis campaign conducted in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur during the last three years.

On this occasion, it was informed that all the students are screened for hepatitis at the time of admission in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur all students, teachers, and employees of the university are protected from this disease.

The focal person of this campaign in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Medical and Health Division, Dr. Muhammad Usman, along with senior teachers and senior officials of the university, conducted this campaign.

In this regard, Governor Punjab has issued directives to all the universities of Punjab to take necessary steps to make hepatitis-free universities following the successful model of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
