A two-year-old Ugandan kid was assaulted by a hippo, which swallowed half of his body before spitting him out when he was scared away by a diligent observer. Internet users’ spines are tingling as a result of the occurrence.

After receiving treatment, the boy regained his health, according to the police, and his condition was stable.

The event occurred at 3 p.m. on December 4, when the boy was playing at his residence in Rwenjubu Cell, Lake Katwe-Kabatoro Town Council, Kasese area. The ferocious beast emerged from Lake Edward and attacked him, but bystander Chrispas Bagonza swiftly threw stones at it, allowing the boy to escape its enormous maw.

The Uganda Police Force tweeted the information. “The territorial police in Katwe –Kabatoro, in Kasese, registered an incident of a hippo attack, after it grabbed a two year old boy, identified as Iga Paul, from the head and swallowed half of his body. The victim was attacked on the 04.12.2022,” wrote the law enforcement agency.

The child was rushed to the hospital immediately. After receiving a rabies vaccination, the child was returned to his parents.

The police warned citizens of wild animals. “Although the hippo was frightened back into the lake, all citizens in the vicinity of animal sanctuaries and habitats should be aware that wild animals are extremely dangerous. Instinctively, wild animals perceive humans as a threat, and any encounter with them might cause them to behave erratically or aggressively, according to a news release.

Sub-Saharan Africa’s semiaquatic mammals are vegetarians, but become violent when they sense danger. They are reportedly one of the most dangerous creatures in Africa. According to National Geographic, between 500 and 3,000 humans are killed by hippos a year.
