Due to the fact that the president of Peru was taken into custody, the country was forced to declare a state of emergency.

As a direct consequence of this decision, tourists from all over the world were left stranded in the historical city of Machu Picchu.

As violent demonstrations began to break out and supporters of the president began to construct barriers that made it difficult to travel within the nation or out of it, the crucial rail line that offered access to the UNESCO World Heritage Site was suspended.

This made it more difficult to travel either within the nation or out of it.

According to a statement that was made on Tuesday by PeruRail, the country’s railway operator in the south and southeast sections of the country, all trains travelling to and coming from Machu Picchu, the most well-known tourist spot in the country, were suspended on Tuesday.
