Police have opened a murder inquiry after a man was killed with a knife in a Clapham south London street. At 04:55 GMT, police discovered the critically hurt man outside King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill. He passed away soon after.

According to detectives, he was stabbed in Clapham High Street around 04:45, and a friend then drove him to the hospital.

In Clapham, cordons are in place while the forensic investigations go on.

A post mortem examination would be conducted, according to the Met Police.

The man’s family has been informed and is receiving help, according to Det Insp. Matt Denby.

Insisting that anyone with knowledge come forward, he stressed that the inquiry was still in its “very early stages.”

Det Insp Denby continued: “The victim was driven to hospital by a friend, but tragically his injuries proved fatal.

“As I begin work alongside dedicated colleagues and homicide investigators, my thoughts and sympathies are with this man’s family and friends.

“I can assure them of our total commitment to finding whoever was responsible and bring them to justice.”
