New video shows a fireball burning above a woodland near Vsevolozhsk, 15 miles east of St. Petersburg, Russia.

The source of the explosion that has sent thick columns of smoke into the air of the old city is now unknown.

Today (November 19), locals in the city reported hearing a tremendous blast, prompting fears that more people may have been killed in a gas explosion.
According to official Russian media, a ruptured gas pipeline in the Leningrad area was the cause of the explosion. Meanwhile, the local governor assured residents that the fire was contained and posed no danger.

This happened on the Russian island of Sakhalin only hours after another explosion caused by a gas leak in a nearby apartment complex.
At 5:30 a.m. local time this morning, a gas cylinder exploded, killing nine individuals, including four children.

Surgeons are reportedly operating on patients near to the area, while others search for survivors trapped in the wreckage, and emergency services and volunteers have been working on the spot all day. There were 33 confirmed residents in the building, and 3 were reported missing.
