Suneil Shetty is ecstatic about the addition of Kartik Aaryan to the Hera Pheri franchise. He further explains that Akshay Kumar has not been “replaced” by Kartik in the forthcoming film.

Paresh Rawal confirmed Kartik’s participation in the third episode via a tweet in response to a fan’s inquiry as to whether he will appear in the film. Later, Akshay announced that he would not be participating in the project due to “creative issues.”

Shetty discussed Kartik’s involvement with the film “Kartik Aaryan as a brilliant choice, (but) he is not playing Raju. Kartik is an absolutely new character and he will bring amazing energy to the role that he would play .” He said.

He subsequently addressed the matter of Akshay’s absence from the film by stating, “Nobody can replace Raju. Now it is up to Raju and Firoz Bhai to resolve the ‘Hera Pheri’ situation.

The first film of the series was directed by Priyadarshan and released in 2000. 2006 saw the release of Phir Hera Pheri, which was directed by Neeraj Vora (late).

Shetty added, “I feel a hit film is something whose characters are remembered, like Raju, Shyam, Babu bhaiya. The simplicity of ‘Hera Pheri’ has worked with the audience. I didn’t know that the film would become a cult (classic) like this. But I knew it would be appreciated.”.

He also stated, “Clean comedies will always work like magic and will be loved by toddlers to older people. You would not feel like you want to fast forward and watch it.”
