Ashley Tisdale will star in comedy series “Brutally Honest”

  • Brutally Honest will be a semi-autobiographical portrayal of the actress and singer’s life.
  • The single-camera programme will be directed by CBS Studios.
  • The programme will air in 2015.

Ashley Tisdale will soon be making a comeback to television, as the High School Musical actress is poised to direct the comedy series Brutally Honest for CBS.

This semi-autobiographical portrayal of the actress and singer’s life will bring her back together with two A-list screenwriters. Tisdale will both be the show’s lead and executive producer, according to sources.

According to the logline for Brutally Honest, the single-camera programme, which will be directed by CBS Studios, “is a comedy about how having a baby can ruin, save, change, destroy and inspire your marriage…all before lunch.”

While Tisdale will star in the show, she will also have star support in the production. Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern, best known for their previous work together on the successful series Carol’s Second Act, which also co-starred Tisdale, will write and executive produce the project.

The duo, who have a global agreement with CBS Studios, are also known for producing the hugely popular adolescent comedy Booksmart and for directing the ABC hit comedy Trophy Wife.

Haskins and Halpern have 80 For Brady, a forthcoming Paramount Pictures film starring Tom Brady, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field, in addition to Brutally Honest.

Tisdale’s life is said to have “inspired” the writing of Brutally Honest. Beyond Tisdale, no further cast members for the programme have been revealed.

However, it might be believed that Brutally Honest will be modelled on Tisdale’s own child, whom she gave birth to in 2021, given that the logline mentions the main character having a child.

Tisdale, who initially gained notoriety as a child performer on The Suite Life of Zach & Cody in the early 2000s, is making a comeback on television with the show.

She was made a star for the Disney Channel thanks to her starring part in the High School Musical movie series, which propelled her to widespread stardom.

Later, she would play in a number of major motion pictures, such as Picture This, Aliens in the Attic, Scary Movie 5, Birds of Paradise, and Amateur Night.

In addition to her television appearance on Carol’s Second Act, Tisdale has had major voice acting parts on Disney Television Animation’s Phineas and Ferb and Hub Network’s Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch.

She also appeared on Netflix’s ill-fated Christmas comedy Merry Happy Whatever. Tisdale is a talented musician in addition to her acting roles, having made her musical debut in High School Musical. That resulted in several recording contracts, and Tisdale has since put out three studio albums.

Brutally Honest has no set release date as of yet.
