The extradition of a woman charged with murder in New Zealand after the discovery of two deceased children’s remains in abandoned bags has been allowed by a South Korean court.

The Seoul High Court informed media on Friday that although it had decided that the lady could be extradited, the Justice Ministry now had the final say. No date for this had been scheduled.

Weeks after the children’s remains were found in bags purchased from a storage facility in New Zealand, the lady, 42, who authorities believe to be the mother of the two kids, was detained in Ulsan, South Korea, in September.

According to police, the woman was born in South Korea but moved to New Zealand “a long time ago” and gained citizenship before returning a few years ago.

The Seoul High Court informed media that although she had denied the allegations, she had consented to her return to New Zealand.

Police in New Zealand had previously asked that the woman be returned in accordance with the two nations’ extradition agreement.

After a family in South Auckland reported discovering human remains in bags they purchased from a storage facility in an online auction, New Zealand police opened a homicide investigation in August.

According to New Zealand police, the kids, who were most likely between the ages of 5 and 10, may have been dead for three to four years.

The family who purchased the luggage was not the subject of an investigation, the police emphasized at the time.
