- The appointment of Goto as economic revitalization minister will be announced later.
- The announcement was made through NHK.
- Daishiro resigned from the position the previous day.
According to two people with direct knowledge of the decision, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will choose former health minister Shigeyuki Goto as the new economics minister to replace Daishiro Yamagiwa.
The appointment of Shigeyuki Goto as economic revitalization minister, which will be announced later on Tuesday, comes after Daishiro Yamagiwa resigned from the position the previous day in the face of mounting criticism for his failure to adequately explain his ties to a church group that critics liken to a cult.
NHK was the first to announce the appointment.
