According to Matthew Perry, a rehab center attempted to prevent him from seeking medical assistance after his intestines erupted.

The 53-year-old actor said that the hospital refused to treat him while he was in excruciating pain due to his celebrity status. When an opiate addiction caused the star’s colon to burst and place him in a coma for two weeks, doctors gave him a two percent chance of survival.

The actor was then admitted to the hospital, where he fell into a coma, got pneumonia, and experienced a colon explosion. After miraculously surviving the night, Matthew’s loving ones were informed that he needed to be transported to a facility with specialized technology to keep him alive.

Matthew Perry wrote in his new book that he recently achieved 18 months of sobriety after spending around $9 million attempting to stay sober. He further explained that Jennifer Aniston challenged him about his drinking and was a continuous source of support.
