Today is the 24th anniversary of Karan Johar’s directorial debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, thus he gives insights about the film.
On this momentous occasion, Johar divulged some behind-the-scenes information about the film. Regarding the casting process, he stated, “I had asked everyone. Main bhikari ban chuka tha uss film mai. Eight heroines had already rejected me for the Rani Mukherjees’s role. Mujhe laga, agar koi na mile toh mujhse khud short-skirt pehen ke who role karna parega.”
“Eventually, eight heroines said no to me and nobody besides Aishwarya Rai even called me back after hearing the narration.”
Initially, Twinkle Khanna was intended to play the role. Johar offered the part to Aishwarya, Tabu, and Urmila Matondkar later on.
According to Karan’s father Yash Chopra, Tina’s character dies at the beginning of the film, which was the primary reason why the performers turned down the part.
After observing Rani’s performance in Raj Ki Aayegi Baraat, SRK and Aditya Chopra nominated her for the character of Tina, according to the director of Student of the Year.
Kara Johar added, “I had to beg both Salman and Rani to be on board.”
Kuch Kuch According to IndianExpress, Hota Hai garnered an extraordinary reception at the box office and became a major hit.
