In an effort to stop a Ukrainian advance that has brought Kyiv’s soldiers to the outskirts of two significant cities in the area, Russia is bolstering beleaguered military units in Kharkiv.

Since the beginning of this week, Ukrainian forces have advanced more than 50 kilometers (31 miles) into Russian-held territory. They have already arrived on the western outskirts of Kupiansk and have also launched an attack southward towards Izium.

The fast advance has created the appearance of a coming conflict over the two critical locations that are valued highly by both sides. Russian soldiers are currently being resupplied by rail through Kupiansk, and attacks into the Donetsk region are currently launched from Izium.

The front line is receiving our reserves, added Poddubny. “The Kupiansk defense continues.”

As of Friday, more than 30 settlements in the Kharkiv region had been “liberated and gained control of,” according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In his daily address, Zelensky stated that “measures to check and secure the territory in some villages of the region are ongoing, we are progressively seizing control of new communities – we are returning the Ukrainian flag and protection for all of our people everywhere.”

As they recapture territory that was under Russian control, the advancing Ukrainian army have described scenes of devastation.

According to Ukraine, some Russian soldiers are now deserting since they have sustained “serious losses.”

At least 15 desertions, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ general staff, occurred on Friday.

According to the report, soldiers were trying to cross into Russian territory while donning civilian clothing in place of their uniforms.
