SWAT: Pakistan Army helicopters have rescued 110 people trapped in Swat and shifted them to Kanju Cantt.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR), the Pakistan Army has shifted 110 people stranded in Swat to safe places through helicopters. It said that four army aviation helicopters were dispatched to evacuate people trapped on the flooded railways.
It added that the provision of food and necessary medical aid to the rescued persons is continuing while helicopters will be dispatched soon to rescue those stranded on the hills of Kumrat.
The military’s press wing further added that a flood relief center has also been set up by Deira Scouts. The numbers of Scouts control rooms have also been released and people can contact on mobile numbers 0309-1311310, 0323-5780067, 0345-825526.
According to the reports, Swat River is experiencing high-level flood which has destroyed 2 markets with 30 shops in Kalaam. Due to the flood, the village of Falir in Kalam has been wiped out while 15 houses were swept away by the floods.
The district administration has imposed a ban on logging, fishing and bathing in the Swat River. The authorities have arrested 209 persons for violation of Section 144 and seized a large number of wood logs from them.
A day earlier, Pakistan Army has rescued tourists who were stranded in Kumrat Valley in the Upper Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement regarding families who had gone from Islamabad and were stuck in Kumrat due to sudden flash floods.
It said contact was established troops on the direction of Corps Commander Peshawar to locate the stranded visitors.
Pakistan Army troops have evacuated 22 people through helicopter. It added that some families went on hills and couldn’t be evacuated due to bad weather.
However, the army troops are maintaining contact with them and those famines have been shifted to safer places around those mountain tops.
It added those people are safe and will be evacuated by army aviation helicopters when weather permits. It said a ground force is ready from Khawezakhela for evacuation. The army has advised people from traveling towards Swat and surrounding areas due to flash floods.
