Mukesh Chhabra, a casting director for the Hindi film business for more than 20 years, recently recalled an amusing incident from his professional life in which he was mistaken for a kidnapper. He disclosed that the incident took place as he was searching for young performers to be cast in the 2011 comedy film Chillar Party.

A number of young actors made their acting debuts in the movie Chillar Party, which was directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bahl and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures and Salman Khan under his Salman Khan Films. Irfan Khan played the lead character Fatka in the movie, which went on to win the 2011 National Film Award for Best Children’s Film.

Mukesh explained to media how he chose Irfan for the role in the movie, I saw the young actor who portrays Fatka in Chillar Party at the Lokhandwala red light. This kid is fantastic, in my opinion. I then followed him into an Oshiwara slum. I went with him home. His mother believed that I was a kidnapper. I replied, “No, a movie about kids is being made. “I’m auditioning for it, s he had trouble in believing me. After eventually persuading her, I invited her to the office UTV had prepared for us. Before requesting an audition from him, we provided him a workshop for three to four days. He gave an audition and was given the part of Fatka, and later received a national award.”

When casting directors sign a kid artist (Mukesh), stated during the meeting that they are more interested in character than acting ability. After spotting Harshaali Malhotra in a Gurgaon mall and asking his team to find her, he disclosed that she was also cast similarly in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Brahmastra, the next movie Mukesh Chhabra will cast, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mouni Roy among others. He revealed that he spent more than six years working on the movie. The theatrical debut of Brahmastra is planned for September 9.
